Organizational Structure

The CHN’s organizational structure is based on a model of shared governance. The CHN has three main components to its organizational structure – the Council, the Board of Directors, and a Coordinating Committee. A number of project task forces and working groups carry out the work of the Network.

COUNCIL
The Council is responsible for setting the direction and leading CHN toward fulfillment of its vision. Membership of Council includes a representative of the Board of Governors and the CEOs from each member organization.

BOARD OF DIRECTORS
The Board of Directors is responsible for overseeing the work of CHN, and developing and monitoring the implementation of CHN’s annual operating plan. The Board is made-up of members of Council appointed through an open nominations process. It meets six times per year.

The Coordinating Committee is made up of one representative from each member organization, the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care and the electronic Child Health Network (eCHN).

TASK FORCES
The CHN establishes task forces to address targeted areas and carry-out specific projects on behalf of the Network. Current task forces include:

  • Maternal/Newborn Services Task Force
  • Paediatric Services Task Force
  • The work of these Task Forces is supported by a number of working groups that carry out specific projects.

Regular meetings are also held with medical leadership representatives in the Network to advance issues of concern with respect to establishment of the regionalized system.
